GTDP Community Sub-Group

The Greater Thetford Development Partnership (GTDP) has been set up by Breckland District Council as an advisory body to oversee the Thetford Sustainable Extension (SUE), also known as Kingsfleet. This development, to the north and east of the town, has outline planning permission for around 5,000 new houses, with the developers providing associated community facilities. Despite the GTDP having no formal powers, it is likely to have a lot of influence over the direction of the upcoming developments in Thetford. No local community groups are directly represented on the Board, and instead their input comes via a Community Sub-Group, whose chairman sits on the main Board.

The Community Sub-Group comprises one representative from each of the three local parish and town councils (Thetford, Croxton, and Brettenham & Kilverstone) and four co-opted community representatives. These representatives were selected from an open application process in February 2016.
